About The Book :-

"Physics of the impossible" shows how our most farfetched ideas today are destined to become tomorrow's reality. Kaku's detailed knowledge of his field is stretched to its topmost limits as he tries to answer the questions like: Will it be possible to walk through the walls one day? Can we make startships which can travel faster than the speed of light? To read other people's minds? To become invisible? To move objects with power of our minds? To transport out bodies instantly through outer space?

As a physicist, who believes "The Impossible" is a relative term; Michio Kaku divides answers to these questions in CLASS 1, 2 and 3 impossibilities. Where Class 1 impossibilities are impossible today but do not violate the known laws of physics. Class 2 impossibilities that sit at the edge of our understanding of the physical world. Class 3 are the ones, which violates the laws of physics, they will turn to be true with fundamental shift in our understanding of physics.

Science of optics and electromagnetism may one day enable us to bend light around an object; negative index of refraction can help us to obtain invisibility. Ramjet rockets, laser sails, Space elevators and nanorockets may one day take us to the nearby stars. Telepathy, psycho kinesis, Super conductivity are taken up in a detailed, story telling way. Antimatter and Anti universe concepts, perpetual motion machines to precognition are detailed in effective way,

Michio Kaku has pulled a stunner with his latest book "The Physics of impossible". This book indeed is a scientific exploration of the world of Phasers, Force Fields, Teleportation and Time Travel. Kaku explains the Phenomenon using memories of all time favorite Hollywood science fictions, novels and Star Trek. One does not have to be an astrophysicist or a science geek to understand this book.

Book explains the existing philosophies in three Classes of impossibilities. Class 1 impossibilities are impossible today but in range of physics and its laws. Class 2 impossibilities that are on edge of break through. Class 3 are the ones, which violates the laws of physics, they will turn to be true with fundamental shift in our understanding of physics.

Detailing the problem and its ultimate solution, Kaku has also blended it with current State of Art in the domain. His details, ranging from Artificial Intelligence projects like Cyc, Superconductors, Teleportation, Space engines, perpetual motion machines, robotics and Antimatter are commendable. Superconductivity at room temperature for floating cars on roads, Negative index of refraction for invisibility, Quantum teleportation, Telepathy, Psycho kinesis by means of brain mapping, Nano robots, Artificial Intelligence and much more. Highly recommended and a must read book.

Interesting Extracts from the Book:

1) So many proposals for Perpetual Motion Machines have been presented in the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) that the office refuses to grant a patent for such a device unless a working model is presented.
